(WTVM) - On the first Thursday of the first full week in April is National Alcohol Screening Day (NASD). This day is observed to raise awareness about the harmful effects of alcohol abuse and alcohol dependency.
The NADS initiative provides education, referrals, and treatment to those with alcohol dependency issues. A number of screening centers set up at local colleges, military installations, and designated businesses to offer anonymous and confidential screenings.
Observers of the campaign also take to social media to share online self-assessments, statistics, health facts and more. Search social media platforms using hashtag #NationalAlcoholScreeningDay.
