COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Two Richards Middle School boys were arrested and charged with battery after allegedly hitting another student, according to a police report.

On March 31, police approached an employee at Richards Middle School and asked if she had seen a video showing a student being punched in the face.

The employee responded explaining that the student who was punched did not physically do anything to cause the ‘battery’ against him.

According to police, the video shows the student in a relaxed position with his hands in his pockets.

Then one of the students who was arrested confronted him about a rumor floating around the school and that’s when the boy punched the student on his left cheek.

The boy who was punched responded by saying, “whoa,” but he never took his hands out of his pocket. The video then cuts out when the other student who was arrested, strikes the same boy on the left eye, causing him a bruised eye.

We have reached out to the Muscogee County School District for a statement.
