(WTVM) - When you've got a coach that makes a program a dominant force on the field for more than a decade, you've got to give him some love.
Last week, Glenwood baseball coach Tim Fanning received the honor of a lifetime.
You can now call the Gator baseball field "Tim Fanning Field. Last Thursday, the school surprised the seven-time state champion coach with the dedication
during a doubleheader at Bill Bowers Park.
Fanning's in his 14th year with the Gators, and in that time he's won more than 450 games. Now he'll be remembered for years to come at Glenwood high.
An emotional coach couldn't be more grateful for the dedication.
"I can't explain how honored I am to be associated with this program," Fanning said. "I'll say it like I did the other night, I haven't done anything for this school and this program, they've done everything for me."
Fanning and the Gators continue their march toward a possible 22nd state title in school history. They'll face Abbeville Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
