EL PASO, TX (CNN) - U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions was talking tough on illegal immigration on Thursday.

He visited the Texas-Mexico border with Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly. The two men observed southern border operations, and met with Department of Homeland Security and Department of Justice personnel.

Sessions had some words after the meeting for those considering an unlawful entry into the U.S.

"For those who still seek to violate our laws and enter the country illegally, let me be very clear: Don't come,” Sessions said. “Please don't come. When you are caught, you will be detained, adjudicated and deported. Do not come unlawfully. Wait your time."

He then outlined how the justice system will approach suspects. "For those that have committed crimes, and gang affiliated, or previously attempted entry unlawfully, you will be prosecuted, imprisoned and then deported. It is that simple," he said.

Earlier this week, Homeland Security Secretary Kelly outlined a dire view of the drug trade on the Southwest border. He said the U.S. is "under attack from criminals who think their greed justifies raping young girls at knife point, dealing poison to our youth, or killing just for fun."
