Fleeing suspect critically injured after being hit by vehicle on I-20

ATLANTA (CBS46) -

A man is in critical condition at an area hospital after he was struck by a vehicle on I-20 while fleeing from police on foot.

Police were called to an area of Joseph E. Lowery Boulevard around 3 a.m. on a suspicious person complaint.

When officers tried to approach the suspect, he took off on foot and jumped over a wall onto I-20.

The man was eventually hit by a vehicle. He was taken to the hospital in critical condition. 

The vehicle that hit the man remained on the scene. No charges are expected against the driver.
