AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - Runs did not come at a premium for the #10 Auburn Tigers Friday night at Plainsman Park.
They roasted the #16 Arkansas Razorbacks to the tune of 15 runs, 13 of them in the first and third innings to take game one of a three-game series.
Auburn jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first inning thanks in large part to a two-run home run from Daniel Robert.
Former Hardaway hawk Josh Anthony added two more runs later in the inning, and Auburn was ahead comfortably after just one
Arkansas plated two runs in the top of the third to climb back into it, but Auburn quickly shut the door on the Hogs in the bottom of the frame, putting up eight runs to take a 13-2 lead after three.
That inning was burst open when Anthony belted his first homer of the season, a three-run jack to left-center off the scoreboard. That gave the Tigers a 13-2 lead.
Dylan Ingram added a two-run home run of his own in the 5th to make it 15-2.
Keegan Thompson had a great outing on the mound for Auburn. He pitched six innings, gave up only two runs, had seven strikeouts in the win.
Auburn takes the first game of the series as they continue to vie for first in the SEC West with the Razorbacks.
Game two is Saturday at 2 eastern / 1 central.
