Columbus robotics earns bid to FIRST World Championships for third year in a row

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Columbus Space Programs FIRST Robotics team 4188 will travel to Houston, Texas for the FIRST World Championship of the National Robotics Competition.

The team competed this season in the Georgia Peachtree District, culminating in a second place finish in Athens this past weekend.

This is the group's third year in a row competing against over 400 teams from around the world.

The team was a finalist for the Underwriters Laboratory Industrial Safety Award and won the Engineering Inspiration Award, which is awarded to a team who is expanding appreciation and expansion of STEM.

Students from Columbus and Hardaway High Schools were in the competition.
