LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) – A pair of twin high school seniors are making their family proud.

The two have been accepted to 40 colleges between the two of them.

Akhya and Akhea Mitchell have also both earned a total of more than $900,000 in scholarships.

They attend Troup County Comprehensive High School in LaGrange and earned a 4.5 and 3.8 GPA.

The two say they always knew they had big dreams for college.

"We are getting down to going to college. We figured out there is a lot of money out here to go to college to pay for it. What we've been doing is applying to different schools through different college fairs. When schools send us applications, we just send them right back, and they send us scholarships," said Akhea and Akhya Mitchell.

The two credit a school organization called DOPE for helping them navigate the college application process.

They have narrowed down their picks to two colleges: North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University and Howard University.
