COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Ten thousand families are receiving a meal thanks to students at Wynnbrook Christian School in Columbus.
The school held it's Feed the Need Charity Event for most of the school day Friday.
It's a way to bring a mission trip experience to the campus.
The FDA approved packed food is a combination of rice, protein, and vegetables.
The ten thousand meals boxed are being distributed within the Columbus area and the country of Haiti.
One volunteer says, "Next week is when they'll be sent out to Haiti and this weekend is when they'll go to our local community at what we have our Love Loud Mission Project which takes place at our Wynnbrook Baptist Church community. It's a three-day event that we have going on this weekend where we're serving the Columbus Chattahoochee Valley."
"I know I'm actually helping people get food and get fed so they can live and survive and we're actually teaching them about Christ I think as we give it to them so that's good," says a student.
Out of the ten thousand meals, 1,500 are going to folks in the Columbus area and 8,500 are going to those in need in the Country of Haiti.
This is the second year the Feed the Need event has been hosted at Wynnbrook Christian School.
