Man arrested for murder following shooting of Phenix City teen

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) – Russell County Coroner Arthur Sumbry has confirmed an 18-year-old has been was shot and killed Sunday night.

Jarvis Ford was killed on 16th Ave. South, which is in an area known as 'Tim Top City.' The coroner's office received a call around 9:30 p.m. and Ford was pronounced dead Midtown Medical Center at 10:58 p.m.

His body has been sent to the AL state crime lab for autopsy and is expected back tomorrow.

During an investigation, witnesses stated that Richard Long 47, who knows Ford, was the person who shot him.

A murder warrant was then issued for Long and on Monday Phenix City Police arrested Long at a motel on U.S. Hwy 280.
