PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Agents with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency's State Bureau of Investigation are investigating an officer-involved shooting involving the Phenix City Police Department at the request of the Chief and the Russell County District Attorney's Office.

Muscogee County Coroner Buddy Bryan has confirmed that 27-year-old Cedric Mifflin has died as a result of the shooting on Sunday.

Phenix City Lieutenant, Angela Leslie confirms the shooting started with a police chase and ended with a shooting on 13th Street and 11th Avenue.

The incident occurred Sunday, May 7, at 4:52 p.m. in the area of 12th Place and 11th Avenue in Phenix City after the pursuit.

Witness, Shagryl Parker says, "A few seconds later we just heard a lot of shots boom back to back and everyone in the restaurant just ducked down."

Witnesses say they heard gunshots just outside of Ed's Barbecue restaurant on 12th Place.

Witnesses also tell News Leader 9 they believe the car ran off the road, scraped the side of this building and left paint marks on the bricks.

Brian Wrigglesworth said he was working in his shop, across the street when he saw the chase come to an end.

"Two officers got out of their car, reloaded their clips and were searching for the guy. Realized he was still in the car, bust the window and got the guy out and performed CPR," says Wrigglesworth.

Nothing further is available as the investigation is ongoing.

This is a developing story. Continue to check back for more details.
