Columbus State University creates foundation, helps homeless

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Columbus State University is creating a foundation aimed at helping current or aspiring students who are homeless or living in shelters.

The foundation will be named "embark" after a network established in Georgia that works to get homeless youth to college.

Funds at CSU will be used to purchase housing, food, clothing, and other essential items so these students can start or complete their degrees.

The school says there is a need for these students, as over two percent of students in Muscogee County are homeless.
