COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Historic Columbus launches its largest grant program yet.
Grants ranging from $10,000-100,000 will be awarded to projects that will preserve, rehabilitate, restore, or increase accessibility to historic properties in the Muscogee County area.
An initial screening of project proposals will be conducted and those qualifying will be selected as a finalist to move forward in the grant process.
Historic Columbus will also host an Open House Weekend at the sites of the finalists and then the public will vote on their favorite project.
"People enjoy a good project. That is absolutely the case. We have done projects in the past. It easy to turn up a crowd, and get interested because people like construction projects and seeing things change and seeing our community evolve. Also, telling the story is equality important to us," said Will Burgin, President of Historic Columbus.
The grant winner will be announced October 24 at Historic Columbus' annual meeting.
