COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  Temperatures are going to continue to be warm over the next 2 days with highs reaching the low 90s. Average high for this time of year is 83 so we'll be well above that. Sunshine and quiet weather will also stick with us.

By Friday a system will approach from the west that will bring showers and thunderstorms to the Valley late Friday night into Saturday morning. A few storms could be on the strong side.

Rain and clouds will move out by lunch Saturday giving us a sunny afternoon with highs in the upper 70s and low 80s. Slightly warmer by Sunday. Next week the warming trend will continue and highs will reach the low 90s by Tuesday under sunny skies.

Our final weather radio programming event is today, May 10th, at the Walgreens on the corner of Veterans Parkway and Williams Road in Columbus. Hope to see you there!

Be sure to check us out on the TV side of things starting at 5 PM ET for more details on the temperatures as well as timing of the rain chances.  You can also stream us LIVE on the app.  For more weather updates download the WTVM weather app here and follow Storm Team 9 on Facebook and Twitter.
