DOTHAN, AL (WTVM) – After one Dothan woman went to court for a shoplifting charge, a police officer surprised her with a great act of kindness.

Sheena Davenport was in court Tuesday after shoplifting from a Walmart nearly a year ago when an officer told her to wait after she received her paperwork.

Davenport says she shoplifted because times were tough and she, her husband, and child were hungry.

Officer Katrina told Davenport to get in her car and follow her. The two ended up in a Winn-Dixie parking lot, where the officer told the woman to grab a buggy and go shopping with her.

Once in the checkout line, Officer Katrina paid for the woman’s groceries— totaling $139.

In a thankful Facebook post, Davenport wrote in part: “The world may be jacked up y’all but there are still people out there to make a difference and when my time comes, I will pay it forward."

Thanks to everyday hero, Dothan Police Department’s Officer Katrina.
