(WTVM) - The Hardaway Hawks were swept out of the GHSA Class 4A playoffs on Wednesday after 5-2 and 6-3 losses to the Heritage-Catoosa Generals in the state quarterfinals.
The games were played in Ringgold, Ga.
UGA signee Cole Wilcox threw a 3-hitter in the opener while striking out ten. He contributed at the plate as well, driving in one run in game one, and three more in the nightcap.
In other action, the LaGrange Grangers swept Stephens County 6-2 and 5-0 to advance to the 4A semifinals. They will face either Madison County or Marist in the next round. That series has gone to a game three, scheduled to be played on Thursday at 5:55 pm ET at Madison County.
Schley County also advanced, sweeping Taylor County 5-0 and 8-3 in games played in Ellaville. The Wildcats are the top seed in the Class 1A-Public tournament. Their next opponent is still undetermined, as the series between Treutlen and Telfair County is going to a deciding game 3.
