COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - MMA Legend and former UFC champion Randy Couture is in town to host the 4th Annual Ride For Our Troops event.

Earlier this week, Couture stopped by News Leader 9 to talk about the events that started on Wednesday, with a concert at the River Center for performing Arts, and a golf tournament at Maple Ridge Golf Course.

The Ride For Our Troops kickoff is happening Saturday morning at the Chattahoochee Harley Davidson of Columbus.

The ride will make its way around the Chattahoochee Valley making stops in Warm Springs and Hamilton.

The ride is all about supporting service members wounded in action.

Former UFC champion Randy Couture will be in attendance, with other surprise guests.

Couture started this charity eight years ago to help the wounded troops returning from deployment overseas.

He says there is no paid staff for the Xtreme Couture GI Foundation, it's all volunteers and one hundred percent of the money raised goes to the troops.

"The purpose of the event is to raise awareness and funds for our vets. Our vets that are making the transition from active duty to being a civilian again and many of those guys, especially the ones that are wounded, deal with some financial stress so we try to take some of that financial stress off. Every penny we raise goes into the hands of a soldier and his family. There's no one that gets paid out of my foundation but soldiers," says Couture.

It's been a busy week in Columbus for Couture, but he says he's had a blast and is always excited to be in the area.

You can find out more information on Randy Couture's foundation here.
