COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - It's almost Mother's Day, and PAWS Humane is offering a "Mom's Best Friend" pet adoption special May 13 and 14.

Adoptions Manager, Katie Morrell says, “This is a perfect time if you are looking to add someone to your family and mom is wanting another partner in the house.”

For this weekend only, dog and cat adopters will receive a free adoption fee for all adoptable animals that includes all dogs, cats, puppies and kittens.

“Pets are often thought of as furry kids and that’s a sentiment we agree with,” says Morrell. “There is a great bond between a family and their pet, and we are hoping this promotion helps many of our animals find the wonderful homes they deserve.”

Regular adoption fees range from 25 to 125 dollars, so reducing the fee to zero dollars is a huge discount.

PAWS Humane located on Milgen Road host free adoptions weekends in hopes of clearing the shelter.

Every time one adoption is made, another life is saved.

“In the past, our free adoption promotions have proven to be very successful in finding homes for our shelter pets,” Morrell says. “During our November free event, we even cleared our entire shelter. We are hoping our Mother’s Day free adoption promotion will be just as successful.”

Each animal adopted is spayed/neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations and microchipped.

You have until 5 p.m Saturday and from Noon to 5 p.m. on Mother's Day to adopt mom's best friend.

Adoptions will take place at PAWS Humane located on Milgen Road.
