COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A verdict has been reached in the 4th Quarter Sports Bar murder trial.

Daginald Wheeler was found not guilty on all charges, DeMark Ponder found not guilty of murder, and James Daniels Jr. was found not guilty on all charges for killing Dominic Mitchell at the 4th Quarter Sports Bar a year-and-a-half-ago.

Ponder was found guilty and charged with lying to a police officer.

We caught up with the victim's mother as well as the defense after the reading of today's verdict.

“I was shocked, but I always figured in the back of my mind something like this would happen,” said Penny Bennett, victim’s parent.

“Been going on two plus weeks, so every… it’s been exhaustively tried by both sides, fortunately, ruled in our favor,” said Defense Attorney Stacey Jackson.

Just hours before the verdict was announced, the jury foreperson in the trial was dismissed and replaced with an alternate.

The foreperson accused by other jurors of doing outside research about trial and sharing evidence and information with friends.
