Grangers knocked out in state semifinals

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) -

The LaGrange Grangers saw their state title run end on Wednesday night, as the Grangers were swept 5-0 and 9-0 by the Marist War Eagles in the GHSA Class 4A state semifinals.

Ben Anderson held Marist to one run in the first six innings of the opener until the War Eagles erupted for four runs in the seventh inning on a two-run double by Joseph Mannelly and a two-run single by Charlie Denson.

Marist struck quickly in the nightcap, scoring three runs in the first, four in the third, with a two-run homer by Derius Hulbert in the fifth inning capping the scoring.

LaGrange ends the season with a 32-16 record.
