PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - A big announcement was made at the Phenix City School Board meeting Thursday night.
The city has reached its goal of raising $1.1 million for improving projects at several city schools.
The two-year fundraising effort was reached thanks in part to help from the group Friends of Phenix City.
Monies raised has been used in the creation of the STEM center and various smart labs on the campuses of all of the city's elementary schools.
School officials say next year they will add advanced placement classes to the already successful dual enrollment offerings.
