Man, 61, arrested for trafficking methamphetamine in Russell County

RUSSELL COUNTY, AL (WTVM) – The Russell County Sheriff's Office held a press conference on Friday to announce a recent drug bust.

Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor confirmed that 61-year-old Darryl Gosha was arrested for trafficking methamphetamine after RCSO received an anonymous tip that over five pounds of ice or meth were heading for a house on 8th Place in Phenix City.

Police say Gosha is in the Russell County Jail without bond on accused charges of trafficking methamphetamine and that this amount of meth is the largest bust they've seen in the area in a very long time.

"The ice is actually in the container free, it's no bags or anything in there. But this is a significant amount of ice a meth in our community and I'm excited for our investigative guys. They did a great job in receiving information," says Sheriff Taylor.

Sheriff Taylor said the investigation is still ongoing and there could be more arrests made in this case as this was a large amount of meth valued at 250 thousand dollars.

Police did say there were no other items or anything else seized from the property from Darryl Gosha.

This is a developing story; check back for updates.
