PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Habitat for Humanity of Phenix City celebrated the completion of construction on a new home at a dedication ceremony.
The new homeowners, The James family, thanked all those who worked so hard to help them reach this goal.
The James Family had to perform 500 sweat equity hours working on their home and the homes of others as a requirement for becoming Habitat homeowners.
Connie Ramsay-Austin, Executive Director, presented the family with the key to their new home.
"I am very very happy, I'm very blessed. I truly thank God for my home because it's just amazing to know that with the help of my family, of course, provide a brand new home that my daughter could grow up in," says new homeowner, Kiara James.
Through donations of money, materials and volunteer labor, Habitat for Humanity of Phenix City was able to build the home and sell it at an affordable price.
The James family purchased the home with a no-profit mortgage and their monthly mortgage payments will be used to build more Habitat houses in Phenix City.
