COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Youth across the state of Georgia benefited Monday from a presentation at the Muscogee County Sheriff's Office.

The sheriff's office and the Communications Workers of America presented the Georgia Sheriff's Homes a check for over $13,000.

It will benefit more than 100 youth who use the five homes in the state.

Sheriff Donna Thompkins explains where the money for the donation came from.

"The Communication Workers of America partner with The Muscogee County Sheriff’s Office to raise money for the GA Sheriffs Homes, and as a result of that partnership we had a Golf Tournament and we were able to raise a total of $13,500 after expenses,” said Muscogee County Sheriff Donna Tompkins.

The Georgia Sheriffs Youth homes have been in operation for more than 60 years meeting the needs of youth statewide.
