MONTGOMERY, AL (WTVM) – Several new laws are going into effect in Alabama that focuses on bringing more jobs to the state for veterans and active duty soldiers.

Those eight bills were signed into pieces of legislation Tuesday by Governor Kay Ivey.

They include college tuition assistance for active duty service members, additional benefits for soldiers with children going to school in the state, and a program to expand jobs for transitioning troops.

“I do believe that you'll see as the growth continues all across our state we've got great examples of an industry base that is well poised, very high-tech advanced manufacturing that is ready willing and able to answer the needs of the nation and our allies,” said Alabama Senator Bill Holtzclaw.

The bills also help renovate existing military installations across the state.
