St. Francis Hospital hosts EMS appreciation cook-out

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - St. Francis is saying thanks to the outstanding professionals who serve in Emergency Medical Services.

To show appreciation for their outstanding service the hospital held it’s annual cook-out the for EMS Appreciation Week on Friday afternoon.

Hospital employees say it’s the least they can do for those who sacrifice so much.

Jack Rodgers of Emergency Services at St. Francis Hospital says, “They miss birthdays and anniversaries. They miss important things in their families lives. Just because they are committed to taking care of those in our community.”      

The week was first set aside to honor EMS professionals in 1974 when President Gerald Ford authorized this time to celebrate EMS workers and the important work they do. 

This is the 10th year for the annual event.
