Columbus Fire and EMS rescue 2 men stuck on rocks in Chattahoochee River

PHENIX CITY, AL (WTVM) - Columbus Fire and EMS, Columbus police, and Phenix City police responded to a call at the Chattahoochee River where Phenix City Park Security confirmed two men were stuck on the rocks near Rock Island.

Phenix City police identified the two men as Darren Pate and Robert Wright.

According to police, neither of the men know each other. 

Police say both were intoxicated prior to going into the river.

As the two were walking on the rocks, the water began to rise and neither were able to get back leaving them stranded. 

Pate nor Wright had on flotation devices.

Columbus police are looking into possibly citing Pate and Wright for violation.

No injuries were reported.
