COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – A man who escaped police custody in Columbus has now been recaptured.

Columbus man, Carlos Ledbetter was on the loose Wednesday after escaping from Columbus police while still in handcuffs a few blocks away from Hamilton Road.

Police were going door to door asking homeowners if they've seen Ledbetter.

He is charged with false information, obstruction of an officer and theft of government property and is being held in the Muscogee County Jail.
