UPDATE: Man ID'd in officer-involved shooting near Veterans Parkway

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -  The GBI is investigating an officer-involved shooting near Veterans Parkway following a drug search warrant on Friday around 6 a.m.

The suspect has been identified as 24-year-old Manolito Lewis.

Lewis is being charged with one count of aggravated assault on a police officer and convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

He has been treated and released from the hospital and booked into the Muscogee County jail. 

News Leader 9 has confirmed that the Metro Narcotics Task Force was serving a search warrant at a house near Holly Avenue and 41st Street when the officer shot a man in the leg.  

This is the second officer-involved shooting in less than 48 hours in Columbus. 

On Thursday, there was an officer-involved shooting on Mill Branch Road an officer shot 28-year-old Lindsey Donaldson after he pointed a gun at the officer.
