BIRMINGHAM, AL (WBRC) -

Drivers in Tuscaloosa County can expect delays in two locations beginning Monday, due to road work.

According to the Alabama Department of Transportation, crews will add a center left-turn lane on Kauloosa Avenue near Metro Park Drive that will extend to Highway 69 to aid traffic flow.

Additionally, the turning lane at the intersection of Kauloosa Avenue and Highway 69 will receive a final asphalt layer, while shoulder improvements will happen near the intersection of Kauloosa Avenue and JW Cole Drive.

The weekday project will begin Monday and is expected to last through the end of the month with intermittent lane closures. All work will occur from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m., weather permitting.

Drivers should expect delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.

Also, the ongoing resurfacing project on I-20/59 near Exit 86 to the Jefferson County line will take place during the day for one week. This is due to temperature restrictions involving materials.

The daytime work, which will allow for the final surface layer, is scheduled to begin Monday and extend through Friday, weather permitting. Intermittent lane closures are expected between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

The resurfacing project is scheduled for completion this fall.

Drivers should anticipate delays and are encouraged to observe work-zone speed limits.
