If your children are stumped with homework in Alabama, they can go online for help.
The State Library of Alabama has set up a network of tutors in basic subjects such as english, math and science. The free help is available weekdays from 3:00 p.m. to 12:00 midnight CT, for students from fourth grade or introductory college level. All the student has to do is type in a zip code, and the computer will connect him or her with a computer.
The Homework Alabama program began in Shelby County libraries three years ago. Now $300,000 in federal funding is allowing it to be offered through all Alabama public libraries. But students don't have to be at the library to take advantage of this; a home computer is sufficient.
