COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) -

The Ronald McDonald House Charities of West Georgia received a large dose of Christmas cheer Wednesday.

Public Safety officials brought toys and gifts to help bring happiness and comfort to the children at the House.

RMHC of West Georgia serves over 300 families each year, and many of the families include siblings of the patient receiving medical treatment.

“We serve hundreds of families all over Georgia and Alabama,” said Executive Director, Renee Sturkie.  “These families are in crisis when they come stay with us. For us to bring joy from the public safety sector is a real treat from us.”

The House exists to provide a ‘home away from home’ for families of critically ill or injured children who must travel to our area to receive the specialized medical care.
