AUBURN, AL (WTVM) – Auburn police arrested a man on burglary and theft charges.
On Friday, Dec. 22 Mackenzie Pampu, 19, from Helena, AL on warrants charging him with burglary in the second degree and theft of property in the fourth degree.
The arrest stems from an investigation into a report of a burglary that occurred on November 25, 2017, at an apartment located in the 100 block of East Magnolia Avenue.
According to the victim, he returned home and discovered two individuals entering his apartment.
He ordered them to leave and shortly afterward discovered that they had forced themselves into the residence and stole multiple bottles of alcohol valued at over $400.
Further investigation into the incident by Auburn Police resulted in Pampu being developed as a suspect; after a wallet containing his identification was found outside of the victim's residence.
Pampu was positively identified as one of the individuals seen inside the residence. Detectives obtained warrants for his arrest charging him with burglary and theft of property.
He was subsequently located by officers and taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing; an arrest of the second suspect is anticipated.
Pampu was taken to the Lee County Jail where he was being held on a $6,000 bond.
