FIRST TO ALERT: Tracking showers this morning. Check the forecast here.

(WTVM) - Rain is falling this morning around the Valley with showers expected through the early afternoon but coverage drops off after lunch. It will be a cold rain with temperatures staying in the 40s. The cold 40s sticks with us for Thursday along with a low rain chance.

For Friday and Saturday temperatures start near freezing with highs in the 50s under a mostly sunny sky.

On News Year Eve we have a low rain chance in the forecast along with cooler air moving back in dropping temperatures into the 40s. The low rain chance sticks around for News Year Day. One model suggests this could be a mixture of rain/ice while one models stays completely dry for New Years Eve and Day. That's why our coverage stays low - stay tuned for a better forecast.

Temperatures, none the less, will be cold. Highs will be in the 40s for the first week of 2018 with overnight lows in the 20s.
