Downtown LaGrange Development Authority announces new Executive Director

LAGRANGE, GA (WTVM) - There is only one finalist remaining in the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority's search for a new Executive Director.

"We are pleased to put forth Bill Hunnicutt of LaGrange, for the board's consideration," says Edward Smith, Chairman of the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority.

Hunnicutt has experience in the worlds of finance and real estate and was chosen from a pool of 20 candidates. He will be formally voted upon at the Downtown LaGrange Development Authority's board meeting on Jan. 9, 2018.

Hunnicutt will take over for Bobby Carmichael, who is retiring after being at the helm since 2011.

Upon the announcement of his selection, Hunnicutt said

"I can't overstate how excited I am to be entrusted with the responsibility of continuing the great work our DLDA has been doing for our community! Under Mr. Carmichael's watch, our downtown has transformed into one of the most unique communities in our great state. I will work tirelessly to carry the torch onward and find new ways to utilize the amazing infrastructure that has been built in downtown LaGrange."

The Downtown LaGrange Development Authority oversees $28 million in assets, including Del'avant Event Center and Sweetland Amphitheatre.
