(WTVM) –  A local running company is serving pancakes for a little motivation to help you start a fun and safe way to reach your fitness goals in the new year.

“It’s a great new year’s resolution. We have so many people coming in wanting to get their fitness life started,” said Carlos Salgado, General Manager of Big Dog Fleet Feet

The most common new year’s resolution is weight-loss and fitness. The uptown location of Big Dog Fleet Feet on 1200 Broadway street has a run every Saturday.

The event is open to any and everyone in the community, you can join in on any groups running a route and run as many miles as you feel.

“The true essence of it is supporting the community. Bringing together groups of people that you really wouldn’t meet on an average day,” said Salgado.

After each run, there are fresh hot pancakes waiting to be indulged at the store in five different flavors.

Runners said they feel safe exercising being surrounded by groups. If you’re not a runner “yet,” they said not to worry, you start wherever you’re most comfortable.

“We have walkers, we have runners, we have just all different paces.” said a local runner

“It’s a great way to start your new year. Not only great fitness and great cardio but also good family.” Said another local runner.

Big Dog will continue this event on into the new year with pancakes, every Saturday at 6 a.m. sharp.
