Ralston Towers residents start new year without water and heat, residents react

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - Residents of the Ralston Towers are upset to find that their homes have no water or heat during one of the coldest times of the year.

Some residents are saying that there are certain authorities that are at fault.

"Just don't. Unless you really really need a place to stay. I mean, they're real reasonable on their rent and everything. It's not the ladies in the office, it's not their fault it's the owner," said Ruth.

Ruth says in addition to the heat and water going out she's run into a number of problems at the apartment throughout her stay. She says one of them led to the death of her sister.

"I hadn't seen her in a couple days. I kept knocking on her doors, so they let me in. She had been dead for a couple of days. She was laying on her face on the floor. I don't know what happened. There also were other people who died during the summer."

Ruth says that this is one of the final straws for her and that she and her daughter are moving somewhere else. She and other residents say that it's becoming a common thing.

"Not like a couple of little things. It's a lot of big things. They have lost a lot of their tenants. It's just a few people left."
