(WTVM) - Over the Christmas travel period, the number of traffic-related deaths increased across the state; the number has done the same thing over the New Year's travel period.
According to Georgia State Patrol, nine people died in car crashes over the New Year's holiday travel period across the state of Georgia.
This number is up from eight traffic-related deaths over the same period in 2016.
GSP says the nine deaths occurred in Marietta, DeKalb, Fulton, and Richmond counties.
The numbers have yet to be released for Alabama.
