(WTVM) - For the first time in ten years, the Army is updating the body armor its soldiers wear.
The current IOTV, the Improved Outer Tactical Vest is being replaced by the MSV, Modular Scalable Vest.
At 25 pounds when fully loaded, the new model is five pounds lighter than its predecessor.
Soldiers who have tested the new armor say it provides a greater range of motion, is cooler and a better fit.
The Army says it will make the switch to the new vest this summer.
