VALLEY, AL (WTVM) - State Representative Isaac Whorton has announced that he will run for Circuit Judge Place 2 in the 5th Judicial Circuit in the 2018 Republican Primary. This circuit covers Chambers, Macon, Randolph and Tallapoosa Counties.
"I have the opportunity to pursue a lifelong dream and to hopefully serve the area that I grew up and live in as an elected judge," said Whorton. "I will fulfill my commitment to my constituents and finish the term I was elected to in the state legislature."
In 2014, Whorton was elected to the Alabama House of Representatives and has been fulfilling his term there since.
The seat Whorton is running for was recently vacated with the retirement of Hon. Tom F. Young, Jr.
"It has been the honor of my lifetime to serve the citizens of District 38 in the Alabama House," said Whorton in a Facebook post announcing his candidacy.
"I look forward to the coming months and I humbly ask for your support in this new endeavor," Whorton ended his Facebook post.
