Ralston Towers ordered to immediately relocate residents living in units without heat

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – Residents without heat at the Ralston Towers are being evacuated immediately.

Due to the extremely low temperatures in Columbus over the last few days and several complaints over the holidays with a lack of hot water, portions of the Ralston have been declared unsafe, according to a letter from Code and Inspections.

The unsafe conditions appear to be due to a mechanical appliance failure in certain units and boiler damage in the basement.

The Ralston Towers have until Monday, Jan. 8 at 9 a.m. to be in compliance following an inspection.
