St. Paul UMC serves dinner to homeless community at SafeHouse

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - St. Paul United Methodist Church provided dinner to the homeless in the community Thursday evening at SafeHouse.

The special dinner was due to the forecast of severe cold weather in the city and is also an outreach ministry of St. Paul.

Church volunteers prepared meals and served those who stayed within the facility to avoid the cold weather, as well as those within the community.

St. Paul partners with the SafeHouse and other churches to give back to the community and to make sure people are fed and have shelter in extreme cold or hot temperatures.

"We can't do this alone, we need the community to step into this and they will then see that missions are needed in our community. It could be working with people, learning computers, or it could be helping people look for jobs," said Dr. Andrew Morrow, a St. Paul outreach volunteer.

The church also hosts a coat and blanket giveaway on Tuesdays to ensure people stay warm.
