Columbus mayor steps in to find housing plan for Ralston residents without heat

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - New developments are underway as Columbus government officials are stepping in to find an alternative housing plan for residents at the Ralston Towers.

A lack of hot water and heating has forced many residents of the apartments to evacuate according to officials from code inspections.
"Here we have a number of a number of people who.. due to age or other problems, they just don't have access to the resources to find alternative housing or appropriate housing," Mayor Tomlinson said.

Tomlinson says they don't have an estimated cost of how much this temporary housing relocation plan will be.

She says the city officials are keeping tabs on how much this will cost and plan to have the owners pay for this entire situations at their expense.

Residents impacted will be relocated to the Motel 6.
