COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) –  The Greater Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Columbus held a Community Health Fair.

The event took place Saturday morning inside the churches’ activities center.

This is the 5th year the church has held the fair.

Those who attended got free screenings for things such as blood pressure, body mass index, and hearing.

Church organizers told us why it is so important to have an event like this for the community.

“A lot of people don’t have the resources to pay for these things. There are a lot of free sources they don’t know about. We advertise so much to get the word out there so they can take advantage of it.” Said Reverend Rodney Pollack.

Food was also provided at the event and guests also had the chance to win prizes.

The church hopes to grow the event every year.
