6th grader wins Blackmon Road Middle School spelling bee

It was a hard-fought victory at Blackmon Road Middle School's spelling bee in Columbus.

More than 20 students took part in the bee Thursday morning with  News Leader 9's Jason Dennis being the word announcer.

The winner of the spelling bee was 6th grader Chloe Smith, who will compete in the Muscogee County School District Spelling Bee.

The runner-up was 8th grader Jaelin Robinson.

The winning word was 'rebellion.'
