COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A new candidate is joining the race to become Columbus' new mayor.
Danny Arencibia announced his candidacy in the mayoral race Sunday on Broadway.
During his speech, he spoke on, what he called, the things that people normally don't want to talk about like racial injustice and lending a hand to Columbus officials like law enforcement and governors. Arencibia says as mayor, he would focus heavily on the youth and the future of Columbus.
"As mayor, I would do everything in my power to make sure that every young person in this town knows that not only do we need them here, we want them here. They are the future of this town, and we need to do everything in our power to keep them here," said Arencibia.
Arencibia ran in the 2012 election for Georgia House of Representatives District 135. Running unopposed in the Republican primary on July 31, 2012. He was defeated in the general election on November 6, 2012.
