WTVM Editorial 1/15/18: Auburn online ranking

(WTVM) - When you mention Auburn University, most people think football, tailgating, and a wonderful campus as the ideal setting to earn a prestigious college degree.

But now, you can add top-flight online courses as another selling point for Auburn.

Four of Auburn's online degree programs rank in the top 15 on the new 2018 list published by U.S. News and World Report.

The online offerings are in four categories: non-MBA programs, and MBA programs in the College of Business, the College of Education and the College of Engineering.

For decades, U.S. News and World Report listed the nation's best colleges and universities, ranking the top vote-getters on a variety of criteria including campus facilities, cost and degree programs.

Now the competition for online students is fierce, and universities like Auburn have been smart to anticipate the demand.

Auburn saw the online future clearly in 2013. Since then, Auburn managed to increase its online offerings by 300 percent in four years.

Here's how Auburn ranks:

  • #6 in Best Online Graduate Business Programs
  • #11 in Best Online Masters in Business Administration Programs
  • #13 in best Online Graduate Education Programs
  • #15 in best Online Graduate Engineering Programs.

We congratulate Auburn on its recognition. We think Auburn is smart to meet the expectations of online students who want a great education and can now get it no matter where they live.
