Columbus man reportedly shot at 17 times during a car break-in

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) - A Columbus homeowner was reportedly shot at 17 times while trying to stop a car break-in.

Mitchell White says he went to check on his vehicle when he realized three or four people were trying to break into it.

When he yelled for them to leave his property on Jason Court, White says the intruders used two guns during the shooting. He says his house, two trucks, a tree, and the suspects' car were struck.

With nowhere to hide during the incident, White laid down beside his truck until the suspects left.

"About 5:45 this morning they broke into several other vehicles throughout the neighborhood. The officer that responded said that they were going around checking for unlocked vehicles and I just happened to come outside at the same time they were going through my vehicle and just bad luck I guess you can say," says White.

No arrest has been made in the case yet.
