Boys and Girls Club names 2018 'Youth of the Year'

COLUMBUS, GA (WTVM) – The Boys and Girls Club hosted an event to name the next Youth of the Year award recipient.

Kaitlyn Leigh was named the 2018 Youth of the Year. She will receive a two-year full scholarship to Columbus Technical College. 

Demetria Floyd, Kaitlyn Leigh, Diamond Williams, and Amiyah Wright all competed for the opportunity to be named the 2018 Youth of the Year. The four finalists will receive a $200 award from Amerigroup.

At the event, the organization also honored a community leader who has made a significant impact in the community and has made an impact on the growth of the organization. Attorney Madden Hatcher was inducted into the Hall of Fame for the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Chattahoochee Valley.

During the 1960s, Hatcher served as president of the organization.

The event took place at the National Infantry Museum at 6:30 p.m.
