AUBURN, AL (WTVM) - The City of Auburn is working to regulate short-term rental properties following a growing popularity of websites such as Airbnb and VRBO.
There are approximately 100 properties city-wide that are listed on websites for people to have 'at-home' experiences rather than staying at a hotel.
The city says they are researching other college towns that have a similar ordinance to see what best fits Auburn.
Placing hotels and short-term rentals on an equal playing field is the goal of this potential regulation. The City of Auburn hopes to propose an ordinance regulating these properties in the coming months.
